Sleep Apnea: The Silent Threat to Your Health
Do you snore loudly or wake up tired? You might have sleep apnea, a serious condition that requires medical attention.
Sleep apnea is a common but often undiagnosed sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts. The most common type is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), caused by throat muscles relaxing. Key signs include loud snoring, gasping for air during sleep, morning headaches, and excessive daytime sleepiness. If left untreated, it can lead to high blood pressure, heart problems, and other serious health issues. Diagnosis involves a sleep study, which can sometimes be done at home. Treatment often includes lifestyle changes like weight loss, and the use of a CPAP machine to keep your airway open while you sleep.
