What is Microneedling and Is It Right For You?
Microneedling is a popular cosmetic procedure for improving acne scars, fine lines, and overall skin texture. Learn how it works.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that's used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. **How It Works:** The treatment uses a device with fine, tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. These controlled injuries trigger the body's natural wound-healing process, which results in the production of new collagen and elastin. This process helps to 'remodel' the skin, improving its texture and firmness. **What It Treats:** Microneedling is most effective for: - Acne scars - Fine lines and wrinkles - Enlarged pores - Uneven skin tone - Stretch marks **The Procedure:** A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to ensure comfort. The treatment itself usually takes about 20-30 minutes. Your skin will be red, similar to a sunburn, for 24-48 hours afterward. A series of treatments is usually recommended for the best results. A consultation with our cosmetic dermatologist can determine if you are a good candidate for microneedling.
