5 Practical Tips for Managing Anxiety in a Hectic World
Feeling overwhelmed? Our psychiatrist shares simple, effective techniques to manage daily anxiety and stress.
Anxiety is a normal human emotion, but when it becomes persistent and overwhelming, it can disrupt your life. Here are five practical tips to manage it: 1. Practice deep breathing: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, and exhale for 6. This calms the nervous system. 2. Ground yourself: Use the 5-4-3-2-1 technique (name 5 things you see, 4 you feel, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste). 3. Limit caffeine: It can mimic and worsen anxiety symptoms. 4. Schedule "worry time": Dedicate 15 minutes a day to acknowledge your worries, then move on. 5. Seek professional help: Therapy, like CBT, is highly effective for managing anxiety. You don't have to go through it alone.
